The month long reading festival in May was concluded with a collage of theatrical performances adapted from some of the famous books. This Inter House drama competition was held on 24th May’14 at Town Park, Yavanika Gardens, Panchkula. Mr. N.K.Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Govt of Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Judges for the competition included some of the eminent personalities in the field of theatre. Mr Zubin Mehta, Mr Harish Bhatia and Mr Sudesh Sharma. Directed, designed and acted by students, the four plays presented in the competition were ‘The Hero’ by RK Narayan, ‘The Blue Umbrella’ by Ruskin Bond, ‘Macbeth’ by William Shakespeare and ‘Huckleberry finn’ by Mark Twain. In essence the audience saw the story through children’s eyes, colored by ideas and emotions that captivated Children when they read these books. The student audiences cheered for their respective House and enjoyed all the four performances to the core. The efforts of the staff and the students were applauded by the chairman Mr. Mitul Dikshit and he mentioned “Theater also connects to the importance of reading.”
