Dikshantians organized a fun-filled Christmas fete “Christmas Fiesta”
at their campus yesterday. Students with the help of their teachers
managed their stalls with lot of enthusiasm. Arrangement of the material
for food and game stalls, decoration, cooking was all carried out by
students. Not only was the fete unique due to the display of the young
students’ entrepreneurship and leadership qualities, but also because
there was a noble cause associated with the whole exercise.
The funds collected from the stalls would be used for helping the
Indian Army’s famous mountaineer Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal to raise
funds for his ‘Seven summits mountaineering mission’ Col Jamwal has been
into mountaineering from the last 15 years and has done 30 expeditions
across 6 continents. He has also been involved in many rescue
operations. He along with his team has carried out various cleaning
campaigns across mountains (especially Everest) for cleaning the
non-biodegradable waste from there. What’s more , he is the recipient of
the highest adventure award in India ‘Tenzing Norgay National Adventure
Award’ and ‘Sher-E-Kashmir’ award (highest award of J and K
government).
Our students got a chance to meet Col. Jamwal at the
time of Chandigarh Children’s Literature Festival organised at the
campus last year.
Apart from various food and game stalls, various
competitions like Spell Bee, Kids and Krayons Junior , Talent Hunt were
also organised.
