Annual Cultural fest of the School, Mirage 2019, was held on 24th May 2019 at Yavanika Open Air Theatre. The fest was the manifestation of the performing art skills of students, showcased in the form of Inter-house drama, dance and music competition. .Prof. Siddhu, Professor of English at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector – 11, Chandigarh graced the occasion as chief guest. The Chairman of the school Mr. Mitul Dikshit and the Chief Guest set the ball rolling by lighting the traditional lamp. The celebration of the fest around performing arts started with Krishna Vandana, to pay tribute to the God whose stories have played a key role in the history of Indian theatre, music, and dance. The four houses of the school showcased their talents in various forms of performing art with an amalgamation of divine Sufi songs, contemporary dances each themed around a social cause and thought-provoking skits.
The plays enacted were based on the famous fairy tales, however with a twist. All houses introduced audience to the reinvented female characters Rapunzal, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and snow white who receive an empowerment makeover. The stories were adapted from the book GIRLS TO THE RESCUE by Sowmya Rajendran. Parents and guests had a glint of pride in their eyes as they sat glued to the show.
An accomplished table wadak Mr Manoj Sharma, Veteran artist Mr. Saurabh Sharma and former senior journalist turned entrepreneur Ms Poonam Batth were the esteemed judges of the cultural fest. Since this fest is an extension of the ongoing reading program, the prolific readers of the school were honoured with the star badges. . Rabindra and Vivekanand House took away the trophy for the best play while the prize for the best dance performance was won by the vibrant dance of Rabindra House. The award for the best singing performance was bagged by Rabindra and Sarvepalli house.
