As part of the IP project, class 10th visited WESTERN YAMUNA CANAL POWER HOUSE (HPGCL), near Yamuna Nagar.
Students were explained about how mechanical energy of water gets converted into electrical energy. There were two turbines, one was open for repairing, so it’s working was explained, students put up their queries and were answered by the Junior engineer. In one hour 5000 units of electricity is generated and utilized by nearby areas.
To understand the application of Trigonometry in our surroundings, an activity was conducted by students in different groups. They were asked to make clinometers in advance and they used it to find the angle of elevation of the tower and the building in that area. They also found the distance of those points from the point of observation using measuring tapes. With these observations and the use of trigonometrically ratios, height of the tower and the building is to be found. It was a learning experience for them.
Nature park was also visited, where they came across plants of medicinal use; they clicked pictures and had lot of fun.
