Dikshant International School, Zirakpur staged its 13th Annual Day Function on 06-Dec-14 at Inderdhanush Auditorium, Sec 5 Panchkula. A theatrical performance ‘Siddhartha’ based on a novel with a same name by Hermann Hesse, was showcased by students of senior classes. The play set in the time of the advent of Gautama Buddha, dealt with the spiritual journey of self-discovery of a man named Siddhartha. Mr. Onir – renowned Indian film director, editor, writer and producer, best known for his films ‘My Brother…Nikhil’ and national award winning film ‘I am’ graced the occasion by being the honorable guests for the event. The programme included presentation of the school report and distribution of annual awards by honorable guests and chairman to students, teachers and other staff members for all round proficiency. Sachin Singhla, the school captain in his speech reflected his experience as a Dikshantian. A dramatic performance on the play ‘Siddhartha’ was the most riveting performance of the evening. The play was scripted and directed by former dean of activities – Doon School, Mr. Gursharan Singh. With an outstanding live rendition by the cast, who brilliantly showcased their talents, through their theatrical performances, the play was indeed a visual feast. Some of the well choreographed dances and performances by Yoga and Aerobic team of the school, added to the vigor of the event. The show received a thunderous applause by everyone present in the audience.
