It was a wonderful experience for children to watch live mercury transit in the school planetarium today. Students witnessed Mercury as a dot on the solar disc — a rare astronomical phenomenon that occurs only 13 times in a century. The next Mercury transit will be seen from India it will be seen on November 13, 2032. We hope to see some of our students pursuing a career in astronomy by then.
The advantage that space enthusiasts got was that a very clear sky was seen through an option available in the Planetarium’s software. The constellations were visible quite clearly & the same were seen sitting inside the Planetarium in a safe way.
